Bittern
(Initially in front of Avocet hide on the bank of Simmond's Scrape looking sorry for itself. When the bird began moving it became clear it had a badly damaged left eye (the pic is of its 'good side'). Despite the injury it hunted with some success along the ditch between Simmond's and Whitwell before coming out into the open and flying off west. (Thanks to David Bryant for the shout).)
