Cley 10Km Square

Warm and sunny eventually after the cloud finally broke mid-afternoon. Light to moderate NNW breeze.

2 Black-tailed Godwit (European) (An already moulting juvenile close to Bishop's Hide plus a distinctive well moulted - largely grey - adult, also on Pat's Pool. The juvenile has already dropped several all-grey 1st W feathers into the scapulars & appears rather plain c.f. to juv islandica (which won't be here just yet!)) ,

45 Black-tailed Godwit (Icelandic) (Almost all breeding males, a small number of 2CY's as well) ,

2 Glossy Ibis (The two regulars dropped onto Pat's mid-afternoon, then moved to RAR Scrape for a short time.) ,

1 Bittern (Nice flight view across Pat's Pool, out of main reedbed and landing on the northern side of Pat's. After a few minutes, the bird took off and headed off towards the Freshes (feeding flight presumably).) ,

1 Green Sandpiper ,

1 Common Sandpiper ,

8 Ruff ,

1 Black-tailed Godwit (European) (A shot of the adult - in it's own way, just as distinctive as the juvenile above - the already largely winter plumage with some remnant summer feathers is quite unlike the look of similarly aged Icelandics.) ,
