Morston Quay
Situated to the north of Morston village off the A149, driving down a small lane between buildings and a small caravan site. At the Quay there is a large National Trust run car park (free for NT members) and a NT Information Centre with a kiosk serving refreshments. Boat trips run from here to see the seals and terns on Blakeney Point. Some make a short stop on the Point of up to an hour. Details of the providers can be found on the Useful Links page.
Above the Information Kiosk is a viewing platform which is one of the best places for viewing the harbour all year round.
On a falling tide and at low water you can walk out along paths into the saltmarsh, but make sure to check the tides first else you may get cut off.
The Norfolk Coast Path runs through here and the stretch to the west can be good for birds all year round. A Little Bunting was found here in January 2006 and a Woodchat Shrike in May 2009.
At least one Greenshank winters each year in the saltmarsh near the Quay, the best place in the Square to find one.
In winter the fields to the east of the car park often hold flocks of Brent Geese and those south of the A149 are good for Pink-footed Geese which can hold the odd rarity.
