1 Teal (male has joined the Tufted Ducks , Gadwall and Mallards on the lake), 1 Sparrowhawk (Male again storming the feeders), 2 Kestrel (A pair haunting the area around the nest box in the garden where a pair reared successfully two young last summer , display fliying and calling ; they have been around most of the winter), 1 Barn Owl (Hunting out from the house this evening and along the river for 45 minutes or so ), 2 Mistle Thrush (A pair apparently feeding young in a nest ten feet up in the Yew tree twenty feet out from my kitchen door . This may explain one bird tenaciously pursuing male Sparrowhawk here which flew close six days ago .) [Richard Price]

Sparrowhawk (David Griffiths) (111823 bytes) 1 Sparrowhawk (Seems to be the week of the Sparrowhawks. This one in our garden on the northern edge of Holt. If it's the same bird this would have been the third white dove (owner unknown) to perish in her talons. The other two having made an almighty mess of the lawns! However this attempted kill was a metre from our dining room doors whilst Mrs G was sitting reading. The result was -50 odd feathers - being plucked from the living dove and Mrs G then deciding enough was enough - interfering with nature? No - squeamish wife! ) [David Griffiths]

1 Robin (With lots of time to spend in the garden I thought it was time to tidy up the garden shed. Imagine my surprise when I opened the day and two birds flew out through the window. I carefully looked around and behind a heap of netting in a cardboard box found a nest. A third bird immediately flew from the nest after the other two before I could get a good look at it. After closer observation the sitting bird is a robin; what were the other two doing there?) [Ann Duff]
