Yesterday (28th February) John Hurst reported a Brimstone in his Salthouse garden. 
This led me to think there may be other early insects appearing after this mild winter. So I have set up this thread and if you note any early or otherwise unusual sightings please add them here by replying to this post and we will see what we get.

16 th March - Cley garden.First sightings of the year of queen Red-tailed Bumble Bee and Tree Bumble Bee.Buff-tails seen daily.Also 2 Small Tortoiseshell butterflies.

Not "early" but quite rare:  Andrew Duff found a Great Silver Water-beetle Hydrophilus piceus at Natural Surroundings, Bayfield, this morning.

Green hairstreak seen on top of Wiveton Downs by seat today, by Keith & Lizzie Beswick.

Female orange tip in Langham garden, egg found on garlic mustard.
Unidentified micro in same on house wall, unable to find in Lewington's lovely and expensive book, no doubt a first for Britain.

Butterflies seen walking from Newbridge over Catchwater Drain towards North Foreland Wood, then south to Barn Drift and Back to Anterton Hill via Old Womans Lane.

Essex Skipper (1) in grass near Bernards Bridge over Catchwater Drain.Also seen along the footpath parallel with A149 : Peacock,Small Tortoiseshell and Meadow Brown.
4 Blue-tailed Damselflies on reeds in Catchwater Drain by Bishops Hide Bridge.Common Blue Damselflies at South end of Carters Scrape.
