Having been to the exhibition at Blickling Hall last evening I can report that it is well worth the effort! James has terrific talent and feeling for his subjects and it was delight to see so many of his paintings together. Take a trip whilst it's on if you're a fan of his work, as I am, then you won't regret it! - Chris

I know James would agree that art appreciation is very much in the eye of the beholder. To me, his work can be enjoyed on a number of levels not the least being as a credible record of the avifauna in his part of Norfolk. In the past, many bird artists have been suspected and indeed proven to resort to museum specimens of doubtful provenance while claiming to have drawn from life. I doubt if this artist will ever be accused of such deception.
